About us

Copy Symbol is a free reference for finding and copying special characters.

What this site does

Copy Symbol lists 2600 special characters across 23 categories — currency signs, mathematical operators, arrows, punctuation, accented letters, Greek letters, Japanese kana, Korean jamo, stars, brackets, symbols and emoji. Click any character and it is copied to your clipboard. There is no sign-up, no download and no limit on how much you copy.

Where the data comes from

Every character is standard Unicode, and each one is named using the official Unicode character database rather than an informal description. That is why a tile reads eight pointed rectilinear black star rather than just “star” — it lets you search for the exact character you need and confirm you copied the right one.

Where a character has a Windows Alt code, it is calculated from the character’s code point rather than transcribed by hand, so the shortcuts shown are consistent across the whole site.

How the site is funded

Copy Symbol is free to use and supported by advertising. Ads help cover hosting so the character reference itself can stay open, complete and free of paywalls or account requirements. See our privacy policy for how advertising affects the data collected when you visit.

Corrections

If a character is missing, mislabelled or renders incorrectly on your platform, we want to know — write to hello.youmightnotneed@gmail.com. Unicode is large and its coverage varies between operating systems and fonts, so reports from real devices are the most useful kind of feedback we get.
